Thanks for your
interest in Task Force 1, Inc. We have classes being scheduled on
a regular basis around the country. Task Force 1, Inc., one
of the nation’s leading emergency service training organizations.
We have over 12 different programs that we offer on a regular basis and
others that are presented by special request.
We offer a series
of “hands on” programs are all 16 hours in length, but can be extended
or shortened ( 12-24 hours) dependent local needs.
Once dates for
a program are identified, we will provide promotional materials thatcan
emailed to your personnel and to other who may be interested in attending.
About a week before the program, we determine if there is adequate support
and interest for the program. If there is, then we proceed. If there was
not adequate interest, we merely cancel or reschedule the program.
We like to offer
the training to multiple departments as often one department may not be
able to support a class offering. By opening the program in a regional
basis, individuals can sign up or departments can send participants depending
on their financial resources.
Programs in our
“Hands-on Track” include:
•Engine Company
Operations •Truck Company
Operations •“Real” Truck
Company Operations •Firefighter survival
skills •Rapid Intervention
Team Concepts •Operation in
large and complex structures •The Coordinated
Attack •Large area search
operations
All of the above programs
involved a powerpoint presentation followed by 12-14 hands on evolutions.
A training facility would be beneficial but even better in most of these
programs are acquired structures that we can used to rip and tear, and
do some extensive operations.
Our training efforts
are not designed to take the place of what is locally available or those
programs delivered by your state fire academy. Rather, we try to take the
training to the next level, building upon what you have already learned,
emphasizing what “really” works and how is “really” is done with the focus
on crew integrity, companies completing their missions and working together
in concert with a strong command system.
We are able to
do this drawing upon the expertise of our instructors who can share their
experiences. At the same time, we are sensitive to the fact that not all
areas of the country have the same staff levels or resources available.
Our goal is not to entertain you, but rather show how best practices can
be integrated into any operation.
Additionally we
offer as series of programs that are directed towards your department’s
leadership and management, emergent and non-emergent alike. All of
these programs are presented in a classroom /lecture hall setting. Class
size is variable.
Command for Company
Officers – A program directed towards the new company officer. The
first day of this program focuses on management skills, goal setting, time
management, discipline, motivation and other not emergency efforts. The
second day is geared to work on the fire ground, leading the company, assumption
and/or transfer of command and a series of computer generated incidents
that will show good fire ground practices.
• Managing the
Mayday - A two day program that focuses on the complexities of
managing a mayday event. A review of case studies showing contributing
factors to fire ground management failures are highlighted. A series of
simulation efforts are included.
• Dealin’ with the
Tough Stuff – A one or two day program that looks into line of duty
deaths, from the incident's start through the next few days of grieving,
dealing with the media and the funeral event. The course then looks into
events that are sure to follow a LODD such as internal conflicts,
investigation, finger-pointing and even litigation which can split families
and organizations. Case studies are reviewed and a simulation LODD is part
of the class exercise.
• Incident Commander
- This program is intended of Chief Officers who have experience
in command. It is not intended to replace NIMS, rather is designed to build
up the academic learning that should already be in place. Using a tabletop
simulator and computer generated simulation software, a series of scenarios
are unfolded to all individuals to work as part of a command staff, managing
an emergency incident. This program is highly interactive.
