The program
Riding front seat, working on the fire ground is the easy part. It’s the remainder of the shift when you are not in a fire truck that cause you stress. This program will cover a wide array of topics presented through many engaging interactive exercises, role plays and other motivating tools. While this program will address some fire ground responsibilities as a company officer, it will heavily prod into what is needed to make you an overall exceptional company officer!

Topics include:
Transition from firefighter to officer
Leading and motivating the troops
Dealing with a difficult member
Planning, directing and evaluating
Administrative responsibilities
Building construction
Strategy and Tactics
Resource management/ICS
Role playing exercises
Fireground simulation exercises

Mike recently retired as the Assistant Fire Chief at Montgomery County (MD) Fire and Rescue Services. With  nearly 35 years of experience, he served as the Executive Chief. In addition to his role directly relating to fire and rescue operations, he managed daily operational and administrative issues including budget, daily oversight and scheduling for 1100 full time personnel. With national and state instructor certifications, he served as an adjunct instructor for the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, NIMS Instructor for MEMA, Anne Arundel Community College adjunct instructor, Practical Incident Control Training lead instructor and holds various certifications in the public safety field.
