Engine Company Operations In Large Structures
Hosted by the Hughestown Fire Department 30 Center Street in Hughestown, PA
Friday, November 9, 2018 starting at 6:30 PM
Saturday, November 10, 2018 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
About the program:
This program will delve into the roles and responsibilities of engine companies when faced with fire situations in large structures. High rise, mid-rise or any structure with a large footprint falls into this category. Less frequent than dwelling fires, a fire in one of these structures will challenge even the best engine companies. Large diameter lines are a must and long stretches can be expected. Labor intensive, engine companies may have to combine forces to make the long stretch.
This program will cover a wide range of content including use of standpipe systems, flying standpipes, use of large diameter attack lines and the “long stretch”. At the same time attention will be focused on insuring a sustainable water supply to support interior operations. This program is appropriate for firefighters through company officers. Command officers can also benefit by attending.
