October 11 - October 12

Rural Engine Academy – Buckeye, AZ
Class Location: Buckeye Valley Fire District 19937 W. Arlington Road, Buckeye, Arizona
Program times : 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Program Information:
Fire ground operations in rural areas are a challenge. With water supplies often scarce, a finely tuned rural engine company can be the keystone to success. Often required to travel long distances, the engine company is most often the first arriving piece.

In this program we show you best practices to maximize your effectiveness in a rural environment. Sad to say, but the fire just does not care whether there is a hydrant on the street corner or water must be moved over miles. However, utilizing increased rates of flow, improved fire ground efficiencies, a rural fire does not have to be a futile event.

This program will transition from the classroom to the field for various skill stations and scenario- based evolutions. At the conclusion of this program participants will have an appreciation for sound rural engine company operations.

The Topics:
Hose line management, water supply development, making apparatus user friendly, fire confinement and extinguishment best practices, offensive, transitional and defensive attack and working with the truck company.
