Rural Engine Company Academy – Joshua, TX
At the Joshua Fire Department 770 N Main Street Joshua, TX
April 5-7, 2019
Friday Evening at 6:30 PM
Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 AM—4:00 PM

Fire ground operations in rural areas are a challenge. With water supplies often scarce, a finely tuned rural engine company can be the keystone to success. Often required to travel long distances, the engine company is most often the first arriving piece.

In this program we show you best practices to maximize your effectiveness in a rural environment. Sad to say, but the fire just does not care whether there is a hydrant on the street corner or water must be moved over miles. However, utilizing increased rates of flow, improved fire ground efficiencies, a rural fire does not have to be a futile event.

This program will transition from the classroom to the field for various skill stations and scenario- based evolutions. At the conclusion of this program participants will have an appreciation for sound rural engine company operations.  Note: This is a hands on program. Full PPE is required.

Lead Instructor: Pete Reid
Pete is a Captain with the Bluffton Township (SC) Fire District. He previously served as a Fire Lieutenant and Paramedic with the Hilton Head Island (SC) Fire and Rescue Department. Pete is familiar with rural and understaffed fireground operations.
