Strip Mall Fires
Hosted by Metro West Fire Department – Ellisville, MO
March 19 and 20, 2018
About the program:
Strip malls can be found in almost any community. Often these structures are used as commercial occupancies including but not limited to retail stores and offices. The occupancy can change resulting in changes in the fire load and the configuration of the floor plan. Today most strip malls are built on a slab, some older versions can have a basement further complicating the issues when on fire. These structures today are often light weight construction. Fire can spread quickly especially if the structure has been compromised over the years.
