About the program:
This program is for truck company chauffeurs . The goal is to prepare the chauffeur with an operational understanding of his responsibilities and his apparatus. With a mix of class room lecture and interactive exercises, followed by extensive “in the street” exercises, chauffeurs will gain a new appreciation for his role in the truck company.
The student will gain a working knowledge of the use and operations of aerial apparatus and role that aerial apparatus. Placement for defensive operations using aerial master streams and techniques using aerial apparatus for special operations are also incorporated in the program.
The Lead Instructor: Captain Art Ashley Lexington (KY) Fire Department
A firefighter since 1986, Arthur has worked for the City of Lexington, Kentucky for 22 years, assigned to both engine and ladder companies throughout his career. He is currently a Captain assigned to Ladder Company 1 in downtown Lexington. A Kentucky Level II Instructor, Kentucky State Fire School instructor and an adjunct instructor with Lexington Fire Training Academy, he holds many certifications in many areas of fire, rescue and hazmat. Arthur instructs throughout the state of Kentucky and around the country specializing in hands-on training, leadership and crew management. Captain Ashley is co-creator and administrator of Truckie-Talk, a social media based training page focused on sharing training tips and highlighting the rich tradition of the fire service.
